Rowing Team (Crew)

Saint Joseph High School Crew

Saint Joseph High School Crew was founded in 2010 and is a varsity, pay-to-participate, club sport at the high school level. On-water practices and racing are from March - November of each year.

Crew is the sport of rowing a lightweight boat, called a shell, as fast as it will go. At Saint Joseph Crew each shell is powered by one, two, or four scullers. While teamwork plays an important role in many sports, it is absolutely critical in rowing. A boat’s success is dependent on all rowers putting forth 100% effort, in perfect coordination. Crew is as much mental as it is physical and success requires total concentration.

New athletes will learn proper sculling technique and experienced rowers will continually hone their technique while conditioning for competition in area regattas.  Practices take place 4-5 times per week; regattas take place on weekends.
Students are welcome to join for one season or year-round. No previous experience is necessary. A spirit of teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship are essential.
