Update on the Progress of the Saint Joseph Statue
First of all, we would like to thank each one of the more than 80 friends, families, and Alumni of Saint Joe’s who contributed to the creation of the new statue of our Patron Saint Joseph! In a little more than a week, we raised nearly $30,000 toward the new statue and monument. May God bless you all and your generosity!
Now, as promised, we would like to provide you with an update on the statue project. Above, you will see that we are on target for delivering Saint Joseph to our campus later this year. At this point, the clay models are nearly completed for our review. Tom Langowski ’03, made the trek down to Florida (Tom thanks for taking one for the team by going to sunny Florida!) and checked in on the progress. Next up, the pre-sculpting phase.
In the meantime, we are preparing for the new statue. One of our generous Alumni has donated all of the materials for the new base and foundation. The recommendation is that we try to salvage what appears to be individual stones in the base, which are actually unpolished marble. Fortunately, one of our Juniors, Jos Parayil, is pursuing his Eagle Scout rank and has had this service project approved by the BSofA. Thank you for your service Jos!
Also, there is evidently a “time capsule” in the base of the current statue. We will keep you all apprised and will schedule a “reveal” at the new dedication. And yes, there will be a new time capsule created!
God bless you all!
